Tattoos!

The DIY Tattoo Gun - video powered by Metacafe

OK, I found this video on the internet (It’s not embedding properly, so you will have to click on the link). I thought it would be a good idea to make one. Luckily I told Zeb of my plan and he pointed out how stupid it was. Thanks, Zeb.  While on the topic of tattoos, I present you with a top three list:

Best Tattoos I Have Seen

1. Radio’s MIDI port tattoo on her wrist. This is seriously the best tattoo in existence.
2. My sisters anchor tattoo on the back of her arm. I also like how she didn’t get it filled in, so it’s just an outline. Plus I drew it for her.
3. The girl in the toilets at the Kings Arms with a moustache on her finger. You know, so she can put her finger on her upper lip and have a moustache.

Also, I have seen two people recently with Keith Haring tattoos. I want to get a tattoo of a robot. Or a stick of RAM. I really do love RAM.
ps. The word “robot” was invented on this day in 1921. Link!

Dead Rockstars

I found this on the internet today:

Average Age at Death of Included Rock Stars (1) 36.9 Years
Average Age at Death of Americans (2) 75.8 Years
(1) Computed from the included list.

NOTE: This is EVERY death of a Rock star we’ve found. This is NOT a “RIGGED” list to produce FALSE numbers, but an HONEST observation.

(2) From “The World Almanac and Book of Facts”, 1997, p.973

Look how many plane crashes there are! Does anyone remember that movie Josie and the Pussycats?! Although I’m not actually convinced that planes really do fly.

Re-Design

I’m re-designing this blog, so that it fits in with the look of the main site, so both the blog and the site will most likely look a bit broken for a couple of weeks. This is my first time creating a template for Wordpress and it’s quite fun! I really do love PHP and CSS.

I can’t believe it!

OK, I will get this bit out of the way first: I am not a big believer in christmas. I do enjoy spending time with family and eating and drinking lots, but the whole things is completely over hyped. I think it is way more important to spend time with those that you love rather than buying lots of expensive presents.

Now, having said that, if you are a present giver and don’t have the time or ability to make something, check this out. It is an open source gift guide, and while a lot of it is hardware and software etc. and may not appeal to everyone, there is some pretty cool stuff, such as midi keyboards, synthesizers etc. Well, maybe it is only me who really likes the idea of building her own synth? There is even open source BEER. Who doesn’t like beer?!

FREE BEER!
There is also the option of buying locally, from independant stores. For starters, I suggest Cherrybomb Comics.

A Top Ten List

My favourite things to drink at the moment:

1. V
2. Red Bull
3. Beer. Any beer.
4. Water
5. Coffee (black, with lots of sugar)
6. Margaritas
7. V8 Fruit & Vegetable juice
8. Lemon Lime & Bitters (I forget the brand, but it is the one with the twist top, not the one you pull off).
9. Mountain Dew
10. Orange Lucozade

For some reason, it feels like it is a beer drinking night. But it is only Monday. Perhaps if I finish this poster in a timely manner I can have a beer.

Corona

Good ideas

Check out Zebs idea for the future of cover art Here

A realistic view of how cover art may be treated in the future, and a dinky idea.

Congrats to my main man Zeb

Well done to Zeb and Jo who recently submitted a MEAN illustration to Threaded, who have had their work selected. I think it comes out in febuary. And here is the sweet effort…

Delicious Mint collaborative plans

I am about to complete my third year of four at Unitec. It’s been a hardout year but a lot has been learnt and I’m looking foward to working on some projects for Delicious Mint during the summer break. Oh and don’t forget the margaritas in the backyard!

I’ve reached a milestone in terms of what I want Delicious Mint to be, and thanks to a few helpful people I’ve have been given some direction and tools to help. I’m currently really into creating innovative ideas, especially those based on technology and the internet. I also enjoy working on a broad range of projects and having my good friends and business partners invoved so this will be shaping the future of Delicious Mint. I will keep you informed as things progress.

If you do something wicked, you do it well, and have a good sense of humour and self management/time management skills let me know and I will try to involve you! It would like it if you enjoy long walks on the beach.

An ad I created for James and August appears in the latest Lucire magazine and some other work will be appearing in Pulp soon, so please check it out if you see the magazine.

There will be a celebration for the end of year on Friday the 17th. Getting very drunk. All welcome. Email for details

Websites

I have been working on a couple of websites lately which I am excited about. The first one is the new Delicious Mint website. No Flash this time around, instead it is all CSS goodness. Have a look at (deleted). The big blue borders definately have to go, they are way too distracting. None of the links work yet, and there is no content, but most of the design is done. Actually, when viewed on any browser on a Mac, the drop down menu is 1px too wide. Stuff like that is going to eventually drive me crazy, Internet Explorer ruins my life. I will implement the hacks when I get a chance, but will hopefully have the site up and running in a couple of weeks. The other site is for a band, Former Skeptic. It has a number of things to be tweaked. For starters, it is completely broken in Safari. Also the PHP in the photo section needs to be fixed, as it isn’t picking up the full size images for some reason. And when viewed on a low resolution, or laptop, you get a scroll bar on the side which pushes the lower frame out. This makes me sad. I think some javascript will fix that one though. If you want to have a look, it is currently living here. Feedback and suggestions welcome!

He is also making a BOOK which includes some typefaces he has designed, which look pretty swell.
Thank you also, to Tiga, for getting me into Robin Thicke. Bless your cotton socks Tigah.
